August Degustabox Review

I was so excited when the August Degustabox* hit my doorstep last week. I absolutely loved my first box which was the July Degustabox. The whole concept of getting surprise food products each month appeals to me too much, who doesn't like food?! August's Degustabox did not disappoint...

The box was bustling full of gorgeous food and drink products as well as the new bonus addition of the Degustabox fridge. The Degustabox fridge provides full value coupons for fridge or chiller items. You'll have to wait until the end to find out what it was..

Mexican Daves - RRP £1.00

These are my new found favourite tortilla chips! I much prefer these to the artificial tastes of doritos and the fact that they are just lightly salted makes them perfect for an accompanying dip. There is nothing artificial about these as they are cooked in sunflower oil and they don't leave any nasty tastes in your mouth for endless hours after either.

Brioche Pasquier Croissants - RRP £1.79

Brioche Pasquier Pains au Lait - £1.69

I've bought these before and I just love the brand. The croissants are delicious for breakfast with some sweet jam or equally as savoury for lunch/dinner. The Pains au lait are brioche rolls which you can enjoy with your favourite fillings. The croissants are definitely my favourite, they taste so buttery and I without a doubt will be repurchasing!

Caribbean Twist - £2.50

This was what was included in the Alcohol option box and its a delicious premade strawberry daquiri. I almost had to do a double take when I realised it was only £2.50!! I seriously didn't realise nice tasting alcohol could be so cheap. I love the pretty packaging too.

Fever Tree Ginger Beer & Tonic Water - RRP £1.69 each

The Ginger beer and tonic water were in the non alcohol option box. The ginger beer is so tasty, you can clearly taste that the ingredients are all natural, the ginger tang is so strong and really hits the spot. I'm yet to try the tonic water but I'm expecting it just to be as nice.

Schwartz flavour shots - RRP 2 x £1.39

These flavour shots make cooking so much easier, by simply adding them to your previously plain food transforms them into a delicious meal which tastes like you've spent a lot longer on it than you have! These come in 8 different tasty flavours.

Cawston Press - RRP 3 pack £1.89

Berry White organic drink - RRP £1.59

I adore apple juice and this Cawston Press one with pear is a really nice blend. These carton sizes are also great for taking out for the day or putting in lunch boxes.

The Berry white peach and goji berry juice is a brand that I've not previously tried. Again it always helps me out when I know that the products have no added sugars or preservatives. Goji berries are seriously good for you too so this drink is a perfect addition to my fridge.

Lindt - RRP £3.49

Degustabox surely know that Lindt chocolate is the way to my heart! Lindt and Lindors are my favourite chocolates EVER. I absolutely love the little heart tin that they come in and the chocolates are individually wrapped in beautiful pink foil. They literally melt in your mouth and I found them very difficult to share!

Dr.Oetker Edible wafer cases - RRP £2.50

These edible baking cases are a new addition to the Dr.Oetker range and I just think that they are such a brilliant idea, quite surprised that something like this has not been done before. Not only does it mean you can eat the entire product but there won't be any waste. Really cannot wait to test these out with some baking this week!

Degustabox Fridage - MOMA muesli multipack - RRP £2.99

I did try my best to pick these up before writing the post up but unfortunately my Sainsburys and Waitrose don't currently stock it, but I am going to keep a look out as these look so good! The breakfast pots contain fruit,muesli and yoghurt and these would also be great as a healthy dessert.

Again as I mentioned in the July Degustabox I love the informative cards along with the recipes on the other side. Its a great touch and its nice to see where we can purchase these products in the future.

So there we have it! August's delicious, delectable Degustabox. So many fun and tasty products of which most I hadn't previously heard of. I love learning about new brands and helping out the smaller companies as I will definitely be back to repurchase some of these. Especially the tortilla chips, the Lindt chocolate and the brioche pasquier croissants! I also fully wish that this food box existed whilst I started uni as I really would have loved some products to my doorstep every month, its also a lot more sufficient than a tiny graze box!

Birthday Wishlist!

It only feels like yesterday that I was writing my 21st birthday wishlist, with my 22nd birthday now fast approaching at the end of the month I thought it was about time I brainstormed some ideas. Now I'm older there really is nothing that I particularly want and I really do just prefer lots of little bits. An Olivia Burton watch is the main thing that I have been after, its so elegant and classic and it goes without saying that it's a timeless piece. As well as needing my favourite nude lipstick Mac Hue to be replaced I have wanted a pair of Shu Emura eyelash curlers for a lifetime, I couldn't bare to spend £20 on them myself so its a perfect item for a present. 

In the fashion department I am adoring all of River Islands jackets etc and in particular I am after one of their gorgeous poncho/capes, like this one which would act as a perfect stylish cover up for the winter months. This adorable pineapple bra really is just needed because its SO cute, not sure what I would actually wear this with though.. Of course my blog has to be involved in some way with my birthday and I thought it was about time that I properly got organised and got myself a weekly calender to plan my upcoming blog posts, having cute stationery is a necessity after all!! I picked a few of the bigger things that I am lusting after but I equally need essentials such as bubble bath,lush bath bombs, body butters... just the whole works really! Just in case my family are reading this of course..*hint hint*

I hope youre all having a lovely week! The weather has started to improve again and I've finally got a chance to wear this gorgeous floral jacket from Primark which I picked up a few months ago. It's also now in the sale for £10 if anyone is interested! I originally bought it because I thought it would be perfect jacket to wear to work but I love wearing it with a casual vest dress like this. The colours of the jacket are so striking and I realise that I probably won't get much wear out of it until next year now, but I know that this has been a very popular jacket this summer and I always worry about bumping into someone wearing the same item haha!! I don't actually like the shoes I wore with this, I literally do need more shoes despite having millions but I had no blue ones to match,nightmare! They are also now in the bin as they have broken after a year which I suppose is good for a Primark £3 bargain!!

Adventures in Newquay!

Last week James stayed with me for the week and we had lots of trips and things to do planned, the fact that I finally have a car again means that we can do so much more in the surrounding areas of Plymouth. Despite Newquay only been an hours car journey away I hadn't had the opportunity to go there for three years. Newquay is one of my all time favourite places in Cornwall, the beaches, cafes and the overall seaside town attitude is just amazing and it definitely felt like we were on holiday for the day!

Once we arrived it was definitely time for a quick pit stop! Seeking out the cutest cafes on tripadvisor and instagram is what I frequently spend my time doing.. I discovered The Jam Jar which appealed to me so much and the fact that every drink comes in a jar is just soo cute, and actually something that I haven't seen in other places!

The cafe is just off the busy main street and I was surprised at how tiny it was, but that definitely just adds to the cafes charm!

The inside was even cuter! An old record player was playing music, and tables filled off surfing magazines and as expected shelves lined with jam jars! There was plenty of selection to be had..

After deciding on what we wanted, we managed to grab a cute wooden table/seat outside whilst we waited for our order to be brought to the table. We were soo lucky that it was also not raining at this point and we could enjoy sitting outside!

I ordered a hot chocolate for myself, apple juice for James and we shared this delicious chocolate brownie, to be fair I ate most of it though...

The drink and cake was truly delicious!! I am so glad I tracked this cute cafe down and it helped make our visit that bit more special, I will definitely be returning. I hear they do the BEST coffee too!

After we fuelled up we headed a short stones throw down to Fistral beach..

Although, the weather was so cloudy and murky we were pretty lucky that the rain stayed off for the morning.

Literally nothing in this world makes me happier than being by the sea and taking time to appreciate the calmness and peace of it all. 

I wore my new favourite Primark cardi, a peacocks top and New Look jeans!

We had a walk along the whole of Fistral beach which was gorgeous, the sea was super cold! It was nice to watch all of the learner surf schools too. The last time I was actually in Newquay I was surfing with my friend, I haven't done it since though as I just get too scared about being so cold, such a wimp!

We tumbled across a cool entrance to a hotel which has been shut off now but the hotel still exists so I'm expecting that it's some kind of underground tunnel,pretty cool huh?

I should have taken a better picture of this but this little bridge is the only way you can get to this little island house, it must be so peaceful and think of that amazing view they must have!

James and I spent the whole morning walking and exploring on the beach, it was then time for a look around the town.

It's not a trip to any seaside town without visiting the many amusement shops that line the streets.

The 2p slot machines are my all time favourite, it's definitely a mugs game but just so addictive. I still feel proud when I win 2p back after putting in about £5 worth hehe.

Seriously so many delicious sweet shops in Newquay, filled with fudge, old school sweeties and lollies.

We then headed up for a picnic lunch overlooking Fistral beach, the definition of dining with a view! It was so perfect and peaceful despite the drizzly rain!

We had such a fun day trip to Newquay and if you are ever down this part of the country i fully recommend a visit, oh and to the The Jam Jar cafe of course!
