What's in my makeup bag

I thought that i had never done a whats in my makeup bag post before so i thought i would share with you what every day makeup items that i use. My makeup for the day time is actually pretty basic, it usually take me 10-15 minutes to do depending on how much of a rush i am in! So lets delve into my makeup bag then..

My base
Bourjois healthy mix serum shade 51 - I have been using this foundation since November now and i really like it because it helps to create a dewy look and it isn't drying at all, i think i would have to switch foundations in the summer though because this would definitely make my skin look more oily than it already is. Its really easy to apply and i usually use my fingers if i'm in a rush or the real techniques expert face brush which is amazing. The foundation is quite honey coloured and it definitely helps to make me look more alive in the morning, it also has a lovely apricot scent to it.
Collection 2000 lasting perfection concealer shade 2 - Well, seriously who hasn't heard of this or already uses it?! It was probably the best addition to my makeup bag last year and i have been repurchasing it ever since! Its a liquidy/creamy formula and it really helps in concealing dark circles and spots. I've recently heard on twitter rumours that this product is being discontinued though, i'm not sure on the validity of this but i will generally be so sad if this is true, as will may other people! I think i should stock up on this though just in case.

Powders
Benefit Coralista blusher - Admittedly i don't wear blusher every day as my cheeks are insanely red most of the time which is made even worse by the cold weather! But when i do this is my go to blusher. Its a stunning coral pink powder which helps to give a bit of warm colouring to your cheeks. It also comes with the cutest face brush and mirror which makes it great for on the go.
Rimmel stay matte long lasting pressed powder - This is definitely my lifesaver! For someone that suffers from combination skin this is the best way at combating my oily forehead. I also take this on nights out with me so i don't end up looking like a grease ball in every single picture. It's also really good for setting makeup and i dab a bit on with my finger to anywhere i have applied concealer. The only problem with this is if you have any dry patches of skin it will show up very clearly if you also apply this, so i usually only apply this to my forehead in the winter.

Eyes
Loreal Paris Mega Volume Miss Manga - I reviewed this in full last week which you can read here. I am still loving this mascara and as any one i always feel like its much better after you've been using it for a week as it allows the liquid to dry a bit which means no chance of getting clumpy lashes!
Loreal Paris Super liner perfect slim - I am officially the worst person at using black eyeliner. I dont even know how people can do winged eyeliner and all things fancy like that. It ends up wonky every time so i thought i would invest in this liner which resembles almost a thin felt tipped pen. It has enabled me to actually use eye liner quite well and the tip is so easy at drawing a line, i would really recommend this to anyone who has trouble with using eyeliner.
Revlon Luxurious colour eyeliner in sueded brown - I don't really own much from Revlon but this is just a standard eyeliner really, nothing fancy! I tend to stick to a brown eyeliner on my eyes because black does not suit me at all! 

Eyes & Brows
Ruby & Millie eye palette - I don't even think Ruby & Millie exists anymore which makes this eye palette pretty ancient! It is a product i really love though, the colours are perfect for every day, the middle mushroom colour is definitely my favourite and with all three colours you can create a subtle smokey eye for the day time. I would love to own the Urbay Decay naked palette though!
Benefit Brow zings medium - This has been my favourite brow kit for a couple of years now. The wax and the powder side are both brilliant in helping to create a more defined brow. I don't like going too over the top with my brows, for me its more about darkening the blonde hairs that i have. I usually mix a bit of both of the products and apply this with the brushes included.

Contouring
Sleek face contour kit in light - I received this for Christmas and i have also reviewed this in full here. I use this daily and i dont even know how i ever lived without contouring! It really helps to make me look more awake and the highlighter makes your skin look so dewy! Contouring is definitely an art that needs to be mastered though, i think i am getting better at it anyway!

Lips
Mac Hue - I definitely shy away from dark colours on my lips both in the day and at night, i definitely don't suit them! Nude/pink colours are my favourites to wear and Hue is the perfect go to lipstick for the day, i reviewed it in full here. Another nude i love is Mac Shy girl.

Mirror
Pebble Grey LED cosmetic mirror* - Having a mirror in your makeup bag is essential if you're on the go and need to touch up your makeup in the day. This LED mirror from Pebble Grey is amazing, i've never had the luxury of having a light up mirror and it will be amazing to take away to festivals,no mirrors mean that people have had to use their camera to see what they look like!! I couldnt even imagine going without a mirror for a few days! I will definitely be taking this everywhere with me from now on.

Sleek face contour kit | Review

After reading many reviews about this Sleek face contour kit I knew that I had to add this to my wishlist for Christmas. I have always been in awe at how celebrities and fellow beauty bloggers contour their faces so well which leaves their skin looking flawless and their faces thinner. I must admit that I had never even used a highlighter before, (*hides in shame*) so I was very happy when I received this for Christmas! This is also my first product that I have tried from Sleek and I must say that I am very impressed!

Admittedly i wasn't too sure how to use the highlighter in the kit so i watched a few YouTube videos which were really helpful and TheVintageVision's was my favourite to watch and she made it look super easy and i think i might have nearly mastered the art of contouring!
The products are both powder formula and are quite pigmented. I picked the contour kit in the shade light but it comes in 3 shades that you can choose from. The kit is a great size which means its easy to take away with you and the mirror is an added bonus if you're on the go a lot! When using the kit i first apply the bronzer with a contouring brush into the hollows of my cheek bones, i apply in to the sides of my temples, underneath my jawline and on either side of my nose, despite being the shade light the bronzer is quite dark and you don't need to apply much or else it ends up looking quite dirty. I then applied the highlighter with my fingers down the middle of my nose,my cupids bow and at the highest part of my cheek bones, i still need to work on the art of that bit though, i also applied it underneath my eyebrows to highlight the arch of them. Everyone knows Kim Kardashian is th babe of contouring and always looks amazing and the picture below is one that i found of her and also shows and explains contouring a bit better!

Source I still cant believe how adding a highlighter to my makeup routine has dramatically changed the way my face looks! My skin looks much more flawless,dewy and makes my face look suitably sculpted! Overall i am SO impressed with this kit and would recommend it to anyone, even if you are a makeup newbie like me haha! At only £6.49 you cant go wrong as individual highlighters and bronzers cost a lot more separately.

November favourites

Wow, this month has gone so fast which i'm rather happy about as it means its nearly Christmas yey who is excited?! I haven't had much time for my blog this week as i have so many deadlines due in the next few weeks, so bare with me! Anyway, here is what i have been loving this month!

 Loreal Paris Elvive nourish and shimmer highlights shampoo- Believe me i get through a lot of shampoo, with swimming training most days and having a lot of hair i need to find something that's very moisturising and i know when i find it. I have come back to this brand a few times now and i love the lather you get from this product,i always think that's a good indication as to whether its moisturising enough! As well as the nourishment of this product it is also meant to enhance your higlighted hair which it really does with my hair,it almost looks too shiny nowadays! Overall it a great nourishing shampoo and it smells lovely!

Oleo Argan oil - I did a full review on this here a few weeks ago and i'm still loving it! I occasionally use it in my hair when it needs it but i prefer using this as a moisturiser as it really sinks deep into the skin and you still feel moisturied hours later!

Soap & Glory The Scrub of your life & The Righteous Butter - I received both of these products in the relax station set for my birthday and beforehand i had never really used Soap & Glory products which i don't understand as their whole range is amazing! Firstly, the smell of both of these products is heavenly,its such a luxurious scent and feels so nice to apply after a bath or shower. I find the scrub makes my skin super smooth afterwards and applying the butter straight after helps to lock the moisture in. The righteous butter is one of the most moisturising butters i have used and despite the price of around £10 a pot i would definitely repurchase this!

Bourjois delice de poudre bronzing powder - I was in need of a new bronzer and i picked this up on 3 for 2 in Boots a couple of weeks ago. I love the colour of this bronzer and i find its highly pigmented, although i have to be careful that i don't apply too much as it can look quite dirty and unnatural. If i blow the excess off the brush before and then apply it it looks great for contouring!

Bourjois healthy mix serum - I'm fed up of never finding a foundation that suits my combination skin and struggling to find the right colour to suit my skin tone so i opted for 53 in the healthy mix serum after hearing really great things about it. The honey colouring of it is a bit different to what i usually wear but its gives me a really nice healthy colour and i find it gives me a subtle dewy look without it being too oily,although i do find that my face can resemble an oil slick by the end of the day if i don't wear powder! But for now its my favourite foundation until i get my hands on the coveted Nars Sheer Glow!

Models own Emerald city - This is seriously my favourite colour for this Christmas. Its such a bright emerald colour and the amount of glitter it has is amazing, i usually use 2 coats of this and remains chipless for days. If you're also a lover of glitter polish you can vouch for me when i say its impossible to remove!! Its about time a special remover was invented for glitter polish!

Garnier Simply Essentials soothing 2 in 1 Makeup-remover

Lately my normal cheap cleanser just hadn't been cutting it in removing my eye makeup, i asked for some recommendations on twitter for a good but cheap eye makeup remover and had lots of lovely followers tweet back to me with their suggestions. Laura Loves told me about this one which sounded great as she likened it to a Clarins dupe and it was only £1.99! I have never used products from Clarins before so unfortunately i wont be able to relate to that but i can tell you that this is the best thing i have discovered to remove my eye makeup and actually does a great job at doing so!

This product states that it contains No perfume,alcohol nor is there any need to rub vigorously to remove it,and that it is suitable for sensitive kin. Well i have really sensitive skin and only ever use basic products on my face so i was worried it wouldn't live up to its claims. Well, there is completely no scent to this which is what normally puts me off from using other products,i only needed a few drops on a piece of cotton wool and within a few motions over my eye area it removed every trace of the mascara. I've just started using Maybelline falsies as well and found it really hard to remove with my old cleanser so i was pleasantly surprised when this actually worked and so quickly as well.

There were no after effects to it either ,no stinging or soreness on the skin area around the eye. This product is great you cant go wrong at only £1.99, it removes your eye makeup however much you wear in a few seconds,it doesn't irritate your skin with any nasty chemicals and it should last you for a long time as you really don't need to use much of it at all.

A/W Nails

Autumn is well and truly here now, so I thought it was about time i put my favourite neon shades to the back of the box (sob) and get some new varnishes more suited to this time of the year! 

I was lucky enough to receive a lovely No7 box of these 5 shades for my birthday which i think pretty much sum up autumn colours for me. No7 is a brand which i know many people probably don't associate with nail varnishes, i always go straight for Models Own,Barry M, Essie etc. So i was so happy to try out some of their colours and they are really well lasting.These all needed 2 coats each and the glittery colours are actually all top coats but i love anything sparkly and like to go the whole hog with the colour,it would also look as a top coat though on colours like white and black and these glittery colours really are such a season appropriate colour. I also love Temptress which is a deep rick berry colour and Beanie which is a mushroom colour,both are perfect darker colours for autumn which i will be getting a lot of wear out of!

I also received my first essie polish for my birthday eek! Cobalt blue is a colour which is still very much in this season,it is such a dark sheer colour which i really am in love with. I would say that it is probably one of my favourite colours that i picked out for my selection. It is by far the best quality polish i have used so far, my nail colour usually chips off so easily but while wearing this the colour it lasted for days and only two coats were applied. 

Lastly, another shade i got for my birthday (aren't i lucky!) is a gorgeous shimmery gold which is a colour i have been after for ages! I love the easy application of the fan effect bourjois polishes and you cant see so well in the picture but the colour is very metallic and has shimmery glitters running throughout it,this will definitely be the colour for the upcoming party seasons!

Review | Mac Hue

While i was in duty free recently i was lucky enough to pop into Mac at 4am, its never too early for shopping! I have just finished my Shy girl lipstick which was such a nice peachy nude colour, however i wanted to try a new nude colour and had seen lots of posts about Hue which is described as a nude colour with hints of pink. I personally think £15 is extortionate for a lipstick but at £12.50 i couldn't go wrong.

I have only ever had lipsticks from Macs cremesheen and matte collection so i was interested to see what their glaze finish was like. Firstly, the colour is beautiful when applied, it is a nude colour but with the softest hint of pale pink which stands out more than the Mac shy girl, I also prefer the pink hint to it. 

The glaze finish is described as having a very sheer colour and a glossy finish, well it is very moisturising and creamy to apply but I feel it doesn't provide as much moisture as the crème sheen finishes do. As for the colour pay off I felt you needed to build the colour up a fair bit but when its applied I thought that the staying power of this lipstick was very good although the gloss does tend to fade after a couple of hours, which is expected from glaze finish lipsticks but its great for just that touch of colour. Overall, I am in love with the colour and I am so glad I picked it out!

For me Mac really can do no wrong with lipsticks and if I had the money I would try every colour there is! If you're looking for a nude colour with an edge to it then this is your colour!

21st Birthday// The presents

If you follow me on twitter you will have known that it was my 21st birthday on Monday! I had such a great time and my boyfriend took me to London for the weekend to watch The Woman in Black at the theatre which i thoroughly enjoyed,i also had some time to go shopping so there will be a London haul post up soon! I also celebrated last night out with my friends, night clubs were definitely more fun when i was 18 though haha! I received this gorgeous cake stand from my boyfriends mum which is so pretty, and how cute are the knitted cupcakes,the ladybird and the rose!!! My mum is a brilliant knitter and has made me some great items in the past for me that i shall definitely be doing a blog post on soon!

My favourite birthday cards that i received were these!! My sister made me the brilliant moon pig card,i love how personal they are and a great thing to keep, my mum also made the middle card which is SO good,its very pinterest!

Loreal Paris Nude Magique Anti-Redness CC Cream

Ever since i have been little i have suffered from redness on my cheeks.When you're younger everyone thinks rosy cheeks are cute but when i hit my teenage years i wanted to do everything i could to cover it up. I have always struggled to find products to conceal the redness as its makes my skin tone look uneven and makes me quite self conscious. It is a fact that creams containing yellow or green are the best at covering up redness and I had previously tried one by benefit which was a yellow stick/concealer but they no longer stock it and i cant remember the name oops, but it didn't work at all for me and putting foundation on top just made it look cakey. So when the release of Loreal Paris's anti-redness cc cream came along i had to give it a try.

The CC cream is a colour correcting cream which acts to combat any redness,it is of a liquid consistency just like foundation but without the thickness of it,it comes out green but when rubbed into your skin it blends and matches to your unique skin colour or so it says. The coverage is quite thin and it recommends applying foundation on top or another layer of the cc cream if you want any added coverage. I have tried all 3 ways of wearing it and here is my verdict.

I have lived in the cc cream this summer as i have had a tan so i haven't needed as much coverage, firstly it does not fully cover my red cheeks which disappointed me,however it did even out my skin tone slightly. I would fully recommend using this is you suffer from spots as it completely covers up that unsightly redness you get with them, so i would use this as almost a concealer on the spots underneath my foundation and it really helps to make your skin look flawless. I also applied 2 layers of this to see the difference and this time it really helped the redness fade,however it made me look orange,seeing as it is meant to match to your skin tone it really put me off using it again because it made my skin look unnatural (towie esque),the same happened when i also applied foundation over the top of one layer of the cc cream. Because the cc cream is a universal shade i definitely wouldn't recommend it to people with pale skin as it will be more than likely too dark for your skin tone.

Although, I will be repurchasing this again and as the winter months approach i will be using this on just the patches that need it with foundation over the top, as it is great for evening out skin tone and covering up spot redness. But for me i am still on the search for the elusive product to conceal my redness!!

Deborah Milano 24Ore Velvet Eye Shadow

Since i began blogging i have been flabbergasted by the amount of great beauty brands that i hadn't previously heard of and Deborah Milano UK is one of them! If you haven't heard of them before you can find out more about them here. Their products are all at affordable prices and they sell makeup and skincare products as well as products for men, there really is something for everything! Today i am reviewing their 24Ore Velvet Eye Shadow* and the shade i picked is 18-Peacock which costs a mere £5.50!

Lets start with the packaging of this product,i love how small the shape of it is which makes it so easy to slip into a handbag/makeup bag as it doesn't take up much room. I love how the eye shadow is encased in swirls with their iconic symbol in the middle.The little set also comes with a one sided sponge applicator which is brilliant if you are travelling or always on the go.

 I am in love with this colour,because for a start it inst your typical autumnal colour but i like that it is a bit different to the norm. As you can see from the swatches it is highly pigmented,the colour is gorgeous!! There are lots of different tones to this colour but i would describe it as a teal colour,it also reminds me of mermaid like colours,maybe why i love it so much! From the swatch you can also see that the shade is shimmery,it really does look eye catching when it is worn as its not just a simple block colour.

Usually with eye shadows i have a problem with the colour staying on all day,as it often creases, maybe i should wear a primer? But with this eye shadow the staying power was great,there were no creases throughout the day so i was very impressed. The eye shadow can be worn either wet or dry, i wore it dry but i am really intrigued to see how the colour would look if worn wet. If this shade isn't to your fancy there are 22 shades in their whole range of the 24Ore velvet eye shadows,because i love this one so much mainly for its staying power and the highly pigmented colour i'm very tempted to get some more to add to my collection and i would fully recommend this range to you!

Benefit They're Real Review

Hello everyone, and a welcome to all my new followers! I have just got back from holiday today so sorry about the no new posts this last week! But I have lots of exciting posts lined up for you so I hope you enjoy reading!Anyway onto today's post, as I'm sure most of you did i picked this travel size version of They're real up in Glamour magazine a few months ago,there have been lots of reviews on this since but i have only just got round to trying it and it really is love. I've always been fond of trying out lots of mascaras to see which one i prefer and i am currently also using Loreal Paris telescopic lashes which is great but this is a real contender for perhaps my favourite mascara yet!

As you can see i naturally have quite long lashes but the ends are quite blonde so the impact of the mascara is more apparent. The applicator is quite thick to normal ones which i'm not too keen on but it does apply easily,my only niggle is that it is also has a smaller wand than most BUT it does a fantastic job at coating my lashes and its design helps to coat each individual lash meaning that is doesn't look clumpy (like spiders webs). 

The coverage in my opinion is fantastic and as you can see in the pictures above,it achieves dark lashes,and as it states on the box 94% of people saw dramatic volume and length,i definitely agree with this however i saw more length to my lashes than volume. I also used my eye lash curler beforehand to achieve more of a lift and the mascara holds the curl like this all day. Unlike some mascaras i have tried you don't end up having specs of the mascara half way down your face or under your eyes. It really is long lasting,it lasts me a full day which means its also harder than most mascaras at removing,so you do need to use a good  eye makeup remover for this. 

Overall, i will definitely be purchasing the full version when it has ran out,it helps me to achieve much longer and darker lashes than other mascaras i have tried. You can buy it from Boots for £19.50 which is at the high end but, at the moment they have an offer on where you get the booster set for this price which includes the full size and the travel size which is perfect for travelling and on the go touch ups.
